Klaipeda is a city with an original architecture.The Old Town has lot of urban monuments - restored Woodwork buildings and narrow streets.
Klaipeda is third city in the west Lithuania, located at a strait connecting the Kursiu Marios (Courland lagoon) with the Baltic sea. The city has 208 thousand inhabitants, a very complicated history, the dynamic presence and promising perspective. The city of Klaipeda Stretches along the coast of the Kursiu Marios and the Baltic sea and is built according to a linear plan. The main part of it - the Old Town. Klaipeda is a city with an original architecture.The Old Town has lot of urban monuments - restored Woodwork buildings and narrow streets. The districts are divided into small rectangles. Specific traits of the city are emphasized by warehouses, embankments and distinctive groups of woodwork houses.The Old Town, occuping an area of 60 ha, is an architectural, archeological and historical monument. It retained ruins of fundamentals and tower of a stronghold, fragments of ramparts, bastions, ditches and ravines, woodwork and mansory warehouses, residential buildings, a drama theatre. The most prominent buildings in the central part of the city - the former Town Hall, neo-gothic post office, eclectic former Liudwig`s secondary school and some more buildings with signs of Jugend style, Eclectic, Neo-Classicism, Neo-Renaissance and other styles.
