The second largest city in Latvia
Daugavpils, once Borisoglebsk for Russians and Dvinsk for Poles, the second largest city in Latvia, has developed by the joining of separate parts of the city.The buildings of the 19th century have remained in the center between the Daugava River a railway station. Daugavpils has its own theatre, the Daugavpils Musical and Drama theatre. It is situated in a Union House (1937) in the city center. The northeast part of the city, Stropi, is a popular rest area located near the Big Stropu Lake.
